September 27 – Portland, Schoodic Point

Didn’t spend too much time in Portland. Just visited the lighthouse, grabbed lunch, and drove to Acadia.

Acadia National Park – Schoodic Point

Schoodic Point is one of the few places with minimal light pollution and darkest skies. The orange light pollution in one of the pictures below is from the Boston area (200 miles away).

September 28 – Acadia National Park, Eagle Lake
Cadillac Mountain

1530-ft tall mountain with views of the park, Bar Harbor, and coast of Maine. Reservations are required to drive to the summit. Permits can be purchased for $6 on https://recreation.gov. Permits only have a 30-minute entry period but you can stay at the summit until 9 pm (if you have a 12-12:30 pass, you cannot enter at 11:55 or 12:35 without buying a new pass).
